Yes, marketing across various media is hardly unusual these days, but this combination sounds particularly fascinating. A dating site? It's not as if I'm going to use it myself -it just sounds like a whole lot of fun. This is good marketing. It's gotten me interested in the product by virtue of being amusing in itself.

Fans of Harris' novels will be pleased to know Ball is sticking closely to her vampire universe and mythology for most of the first season.
But Ball said he won't spend much time filling in the back story for those unfamiliar with the books.
Instead, HBO created a faux vampire news site, a True Blood webcomic and even a vampire dating site, all overflowing with tidbits to fill in the gaps and build on the lore.
